John is an experienced construction lawyer who has been described by the Legal 500 as “highly commercial and practical”. Prior to joining DJB, he held the role of Head of Construction at a law firm in the South East and worked for firms including Denton Wilde Sapte (now Dentons) and Shoosmiths. John acts on a variety of non-contentious matters, including commercial and contract advice and the negotiation and drafting of the various contractual documentation necessary to run a construction project, from building contract amendments to warranties, third party rights schedules, consultants’ appointments, performance bonds and parent company guarantees. He also advises on contentious matters, including a range of construction, engineering and professional negligence claims. He is highly experienced in Technology and Construction Court litigation, arbitration, adjudication and mediation. John also has a monthly column in Property Law Journal and has given construction law seminars to clients, the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and to RICS.

On two reported cases in the Technology and Construction Court: Dacy Building Services Ltd v IDM Properties LLP and AAAEI Construction Ltd v IDM Construction London Ltd.

A major ductwork sub-contractor on its disputes in relation to various projects in London, including Heathrow Terminal 2 and 22 Bishopsgate.

On various disputes in relation to agreements made under the PFI in respect of extension work at Kingston Hospital. These disputes were successfully resolved at mediation.

A multinational technology company on all the contract amendments relating to an on-going roll out of office refurbishments.

Successful high-value adjudication relating to defective runway resurfacing works at Farnborough Airport.
