With over 12 years’ practice in a first-class City environment, and a further 8 years as a Consultant, Eleanor is a senior lawyer with a real passion for commercial property.
Having acted on a wide variety of complex matters, she is very strong technically and has extensive experience in representing a range of clients within the property industry. She is known for her high-quality legal advice, understanding what clients need to deliver a successful transaction.
Eleanor has worked as a Consultant with numerous law firms on their projects, giving her the expertise needed to deliver real estate support work.
Eleanor recognises the importance of pro bono and was the pro bono associate co-ordinator for the K&L Gates London office, managing relationships with pro bono referral agencies such as LawWorks and the London Legal Support Trust. Since then she has done ad hoc pro bono work for local organisations.
WORK HIGHLIGHTS
Highlights include:

Acting for an SPV on the acquisition of an RPI index strip investment in a major health centre for £80m, involving closely liaising with corporate, construction and tax colleagues. Drafted certificate of title for client and its funders.

Acting for an institutional landlord on a redevelopment of retail units in Norwich, including agreements for lease contingent on practical completion (which were subsequently varied), liaising with the local authority on highways issues, new substation letting and co-ordinating with the client’s other advisers.

Acting for an investment fund on the asset purchase of a retirement village where the main value was in property comprising 3 freeholds with over 100 residential leases and a number of commercial leases from a seller about to become insolvent. Involved reviewing certificates of title, negotiating transfers, surrenders, new leases and assignments.

Drafting standard form lease, licence to alter and rent deposit deed plus tenant legal information pack for a 20 unit industrial estate for a pension fund investment client and subsequently supervising colleagues in negotiating the lettings.
