GRADUATE TRAINEE ALUMNI

Meet the commercial professionals who have completed the graduate trainee programme and are now key leaders of our organisation.

On the graduate training programme every day is different, fun and challenging in it's own way. So much so, I can confidently say I always looked forward to Mondays as much as I looked forward to Fridays!

For me, the graduate training programme provided the perfect introduction to working in a commercial setting. It was an immersive, dynamic and fun experience and all the skills I learnt carry through to my role with today.

The graduate trainee scheme is a true alternative to becoming a solicitor.  It placed in me at the heart of the real estate industry, and added to my layers of skills, experience and commercial awareness.

The graduate trainee scheme provided me with a broad range of projects ranging from marketing to accounts or improving efficiencies.  Together with reporting directly to our Chief Executive meant that I developed the skills I use today rapidly.

I studied Land Economy at Cambridge University, graduating with a 2:1 in 2017. My course gave me a broad understanding of commercial real estate, as well as the legal side, and certainly piqued my interest in the industry. However, I knew that from my background at A-Level in economics and mathematics that I wanted to work in a business setting.

I was looking for an opportunity which married together my degree in the commercial property and legal industries, with my interest in commerce. Davitt Jones Bould offered exactly that.

I joined shortly after graduating, starting work on the Graduate Trainee Programme. I was quickly given access to the “inner-workings” of the firm, learning directly from the firm’s CEO and wider leadership team. I was able to learn quickly, both through absorption and through being given responsibility straightaway for firmwide projects.

My projects were always varied – from implementing new systems and re-engineering processes, to copy-writing and event management, to application development and leading compliance audits.

The skills and insight I gained from these projects have provided a solid foundation for my current role as Head of Operations.

BUILDING THE FIRM'S FUTURE

I graduated in 2018 with a 1st class BA Hons in English Literature from Warwick University and joined Davitt Jones Bould shortly afterwards. I knew I wanted to gain commercial experience quickly, aware of the limitations of academic success alone in the “real world”. Davitt Jones Bould gave me that opportunity.

I was given responsibility straight away, getting involved at a high-level in projects and strategy meetings. My degree gave me a natural penchant for marketing and communications, and I worked directly with our Chief Executive and other Marketing Executives to develop an understanding of the firm’s marketing. I also had numerous opportunities to develop in project management and problem solving, working on operational efficiencies, new system implementation, database development and more. My on-the-job learning was supplemented by a dedicated Leadership Development Programme, which taught me invaluable business skills.

What I didn’t expect is how much I’d enjoy being part of the firm and that I’d still be building my career here many years on. In my role now as Head of Marketing, it is a pleasure to see the firm go from strength-to-strength and make the most of all the new opportunities and experiences that come with our growth.

I joined Davitt Jones Bould in 2022, having graduated with a degree in Law from the University of Manchester.

The graduate scheme was the ideal opportunity for me, it meant I was still part of the legal industry, whilst providing me with a true alternative to becoming a solicitor.  During the scheme, I took part in various projects from improving efficiencies, maintaining our intranet to spearheading new initiatives.

Over the course of the scheme, it became apparent that marketing was my true calling.  I started to take more ownership of our bid and tender processes whilst developing our LinkedIn strategy and university outreach.

I have now been enrolled onto a marketing course with the Chartered Institute of Marketing, to further develop my skillset.

I joined Davitt Jones Bould in 2022, having graduated with a degree in Business Management from Cardiff University.

I chose this graduate scheme not only because of the broad range of projects, but also because of the 1:1 mentoring from senior leadership, including our Chief Executive.   On the scheme, I completed various projects spanning operations, marketing, finance, and compliance as well as playing a fundamental role in the piloting of new financial software across the firm.

The skills I gained coupled with the lessons I learnt during my mentoring with our Chief Executive has made me the professional I am today.
