DJB have appointed experienced commercial property specialist Ben Fairhurst as an Associate Director. Ben has practised law in both the UK and Australia, working for leading firms in both the City of London and Perth.
Ben has particular experience in telecommunications, having advised clients including Telefonica and Airwave Solutions Limited on a variety of matters relating to their networks, notably advising Telefonica on telecommunications issues relating to the London 2012 Olympic Games. Ben was also the lead lawyer for negotiations concerning a network consolidation by Telefonica and Vodafone through the use of their joint venture company, Cornerstone Telecommunications Infrastructure Limited. This involved thousands of sites licensed from Arqiva where, over the life of the agreement, the deal has a value of just under half a billion pounds.
Additionally, Ben has advised developers and institutional investors across the UK in connection with all facets of acquisitions and disposals as well as real estate financing. Ben has also handled landlord and tenant matters on behalf of a variety of office and retail occupiers, including Burberry and German fashion giant Bijou Brigitte.
