Louisa Swanton

Louisa is a specialist in agricultural law and real estate.  She has substantial experience in advising on complex transactions relating to rural property and renewable energy projects, having acted for landed estates, off-shore property investors, banks, corporates, partnerships, investment funds and high net worth individuals on a range of complex transactions including options for development, conditional contracts, auctions, solar options, mineral options, high value acquisitions and disposals, overage, re-financings and investigations of title.

Louisa has worked at firms including Hogan Lovells and Devonshires LLP before joining DJB.  Since joining DJB Louisa has continued to advise on complex projects for the likes of The Royal Parks, DEFRA, Ministry of Defence, the Defence, Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL) and Highways England. 

WORK HIGHLIGHTS

 

Highlights include advising: 

 

  • L&Q on the property aspects of their £505million share purchase of Gallagher Estates.  Louisa’s advice was used by Clifford Chance in their negotiation of the corporate acquisition documentation.

  • The Royal Parks on the construction of a basement under Admiralty Arch so that it could be developed into a luxury 5* hotel. 

  • A Central Government Department in connection with the proposed restructuring of their security over farmland. 

  • L&Q on the property aspects of their acquisition of a majority shareholding in Barking Riverside (a joint venture with the Greater London Authority).  

  • A sustainable timber and energy fund on the acquisition of 100 hectares of woodland in South Wales.  

  • A farming partnership on the negotiation and exchange of an option conditional on planning to develop a 120 acre Solar Park.
