CHRISA TSOMPANI

Chrisa Tsompani is a Partner specialising in planning and environmental law, with over 17 years' experience advising local authorities, public sector bodies and developers on complex planning, infrastructure and environmental projects. Her expertise spans planning and highway agreements, Biodiversity Net Gain, development management, planning enforcement, planning policy, compulsory purchase, and section 106 and section 111 agreements.

She has advised on a number of significant schemes, including the landmark Aviva Studios development in Manchester, a strategic housing project delivering more than 5,000 homes in Wiltshire, and United Utilities' £3 billion Haweswater Aqueduct Resilience Programme (HARP), one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects to name a few.

Alongside her legal practice, Chrisa is Co-Chair of Women in Planning Northwest and is a recognised thought leader in the sector, regularly contributing to LexisNexis planning updates, Local Government Lawyer and other leading industry publications. Known for her pragmatic and collaborative approach, she helps clients navigate complex legal and policy challenges to unlock development and deliver major projects.

• Advised Cheshire West and Chester Council on complex planning, highways, environmental law, compulsory purchase, governance matters, and high-value legal agreements including s106, s111, s278, and s38.

• Acted for Manchester City Councilon major planning, highways, and regeneration projects, including compulsory purchase orders, indemnity and development agreements, planning appeals, and judicial reviews.

• Provided strategic advice on environmental compliance, Biodiversity Net Gain, permitted development rights, and state aid and procurement issues across multiple high-profile urban projects.

• Supported directors and senior officers in delivering projects of public and strategic importance, including urban regeneration schemes, attending planning inquiries, High Court and Court of Appeal proceedings.

• Drafted, negotiated, and completed a wide range of planning and highways agreements, ensuring alignment with local authority policy and statutory requirements.
