JONATHAN WARNER-REED

Jonathan is a Commercial and Property Litigation Partner with nearly 20 years’ post-qualification experience. His practice focuses on commercial and property disputes, including adverse possession, rights of light, and judicial review of planning applications. He has extensive experience in the leisure sector, advising hotel groups, landed estates, property investors, corporates, partnerships, and high-net-worth individuals on complex disputes, including regulatory and compliance matters.

Jonathan is ranked as a leading individual in Legal 500, described as the “Grandmaster of property litigation” who “confidently outmanoeuvres his opponents, staying several moves ahead of the game.” He featured in DJB's 2022 Market Report. 

Work Highlights 

• Represented a private individual in a leading adverse possession case (Heaney v Kirkby [2015] UKUT 178 (TCC)).

• Acted for an entire village in a judicial review claim against a local authority following flawed planning procedures.

• Advised Formby 2010 Limited, developer of One Blackfriars Tower, on a multimillion-pound claim against the former administrators.

• Assisted a property investment company in securing insurance to cover Covid-19 losses.

• Supported leisure sector clients in complex disputes including lease exits, contract disputes, rent reviews, adverse possession, restrictive covenant enforcement, and dilapidations claims.
