William is a specialist non-contentious construction and engineering solicitor with extensive UK and international experience. In addition to advising on front-end procurement, supply chain and risk, he can assist clients with contentious issues when they arise and with disputes avoidance.

He advises on standalone construction matters and the construction elements of real estate, commercial and corporate transactions, such as funding, development, concession, acquisition, disposal and joint venture agreements. 

He advises on the full spectrum of transactional construction matters, including JCT, NEC, FIDIC, ICC and IET standard forms and bespoke contracts; construction documentation such as letters of intent, pre construction services agreements, consultant appointments, framework agreements, FM agreements, O&M contracts, third-party rights, collateral warranties, direct agreements, reliance letters and escrow agreements; project security arrangements, including bonds and guarantees; tendering, procurement and project structuring; post-contract advisory work and live project issues; and due diligence reviews and audits.

• Advised a state-owned fund on multiple 5-star hospitality developments in the Middle East,including all construction aspects.

• Advised a government entity on the fit-out project for a prestigious new office tower in the Middle East.

• Advised a developer on the development of a 100+ berth inland marina in the UK, including a new building, bridge and civil works, and the construction elements of the transfer of the completed project to the local authority.

• Advised a developer on construction documents for the development of six towers in the UK, comprising over 300 residential apartments for build-to-rent, and the construction obligations under related agreements for their development and disposal.

• Advised an asset manager on the construction aspects of circa £970m public acquisition of a FTSE-listed REIT.

• Advised a funder on the construction aspects of development funding for a multistorey office building in London using structural engineered timber.

• Advised an international developer and investment manager on the construction aspects of acquisition and development fundings in relation to a prime office building in London with an acquisition cost of circa £87m.

• Advised an investment fund on the construction aspects of circa £145m purchase of a UK logistics properties portfolio and related acquisition funding.

• Advised an investment fund on the construction aspects of acquisition of a newly constructed purpose-built student accommodation development near London, including additional construction works.

• Advised an institutional purchaser on the circa £35m acquisition of a large multi-tenanted industrial estate in the UK.

• Advised a developer in relation to alleged breaches by the developer of an agreement for development of a hotel in London and assessment of potential claims from project stakeholders.

• Advised a main contractor on contracts with a public contracting authority and related construction documents for the development of a mixed-use scheme including multiple residential towers and transport infrastructure works in the UK.
