Paul is a commercial property solicitor with over 11 years’ experience. He is able to advise on the full spectrum of matters, having acted for landowners in relation to conditional contracts, option agreements, promotion agreements and overage for disposal of sites for residential and mixed use development including to UK supermarket chains; for developers in relation to acquisitions of residential sites for 50-100 units; major warehousing, freight and logistics operators; and for banks and borrowers in relation to acquisitions, refinancing and distressed lending.
Paul primarily focuses on work for residential developer clients. As a successful developer in his own right having led his own 7 unit, £6.2m residential development scheme Paul is uniquely placed to understand the commercial and practical considerations of those undertaking any form of development. This allows him to advise and assist clients from a unique perspective, drawing on inputs from a wide range of professional fields, anticipating issues before they arise in order to come up with pro-active and creative solutions.
Paul offers a truly unrivalled solution to his developer clients who see him as an integral part of their team, adding value far beyond what most solicitors can offer. This often extends to a significant level of “deal making” where Paul proposes and constructs deals for his clients.
Paul is often described as “not a normal lawyer” and comes into his own when presented with seemingly insurmountable challenges or timescales. Paul is a tenacious and creative problem solver, examples of this include complex distressed refinancing deals for developer clients with tight timescales and unco-operative counterparties.
His approach is highly practical, pragmatic and down to earth. His advice is swift, concise and re-assuring, exercising care and genuine empathy for his clients in often difficult circumstances.
Whilst Paul’s mains interest is residential development, he also has experience in significant commercial developments, multiuse schemes landlord and tenant matters, planning, auction sales and property finance having acted for most well-known UK lenders.
