Peter was called to the Bar in 1998 and undertook his pupillage at the GPL and 40 Kings Street Chambers, Manchester (Now King’s Chambers). Formerly, Peter had a career in manufacturing after graduating from Manchester University with a BSc, MSc and PhD in chemical engineering. For the last five years of his time in industry, he managed a large manufacturing operation in a UK plc. Peter now specialises in planning and litigation. He fulfils a dual role within the firm as the Chief Executive.
Ministry of Defence v Country Metropolitan Homes (Claim for Contractual Clawback) on behalf of the Ministry of Defence
Acting for the MoD in the first case ever heard by the High Court where a claim for contractual Clawback arising from the sale of land had been made. The claim was defended and rectification of the contract was claimed by way of Part 20 Claim by Country & Metropolitan Homes. There were several principles of law involved in this case, these included property law, clawback, overage, rectification, estoppel and general contract. Peter was involved from issue of proceedings through to completion of court case. Tasks undertaken included instructing Counsel to settle various proceedings, attending conferences and consultations, preparation of inter parties paperwork, keeping clients and witnesses up to date on progress, coordinating witnesses and evidence, preparation of trial bundle, attendance throughout the trial (19 days).
