Planning

Sarah is a highly experienced planning and environmental law solicitor, able to advise on the full range of matters. Her experience includes promoting and objecting to many types of development, including major infrastructure projects, all aspects of planning law and advising and advising in respect of related environmental issues.
​
Some of her career highlights include acting: for Brentford Football Club in relation to its application for planning permission for a new 20,000 seat stadium in west London; for Thames Water in relation to its Water Resources Management Plan; on the planning aspects of leases of Olympic Legacy buildings; and on a variety of environmental issues, including environmental permitting and land remediation.

WORK HIGHLIGHTS INCLUDE ​

Acted for North London Waste Authority in relation to implementation of a DCO for the construction and operation of a new energy from waste plant.

Advised Great Wolf Resorts in relation to obtaining planning permission for its first European waterpark resort.

Acted for a number of institutional investment clients in relation to the purchase, disposal and refinance of large-scale commercial developments, including acting for Hitachi UK in relation to the acquisition and development funding for its new UK head office.

Advised in relation to the acquisition of two new battery storage projects.

Advised the Royal Borough of Greenwich in relation to the Silvertown Tunnel DCO and its role as a relevant authority.

Acted for National Grid in relation to the IFA2 electricity interconnector between the UK and France and its objections to various projects, including Tinsley Chord TWAO, London Paramount DCO and Barking Riverside Extension TWAO.

Acted for SSE plc and SGN plc negotiating early works and design agreements relating to their assets affected by HS2. Represented various clients in relation to their objections to HS2 Phase 2.

Advised on CPO matters, including advising Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd in relation to several CPOs affecting their stores.

Negotiated S106 agreements and S278 agreements, including for two major retail developments in Oxfordshire.

Advised BASF on environmental issues relating to its disposal of a former chemical manufacturing plant in Paisley, Scotland.

Advised on all environmental aspects of development, such as contaminated land, EIA and warranties.

Advised in relation to all planning matters, including appeals, enforcement, listed building and certificates of lawfulness.
