The Building Safety Act 2022 is over 4 years old but still causing major issues. The course aims to look at some of the legal issues. In addition, there are significant developments in relation to fire safety and the case of Essendi v London Property Company (2026). There have also been recent changes to building safety enforcement periods in England and Wales. The course aims to look at some of the legal issues and topics covered include:

• Higher-risk buildings registration and proposed changes to the height;

• Problems measuring the height of buildings;

• Latest on leaseholder protections and the case of Almacantar v de Valk (2025);

• The Building Safety (Wales) Act 2026; and

• Fire safety and repairing covenants and the caseof Essendi v London Property Company (2026).
